Kitetags Account Management and Billing Guide
Manage your Kitetags account, review the Free, Basic, Plus, and Professional pricing plans and their limits, purchase tag bundles, and handle billing, upgrades, and cancellations.
This page covers how accounts are created, the current pricing plans and their limits, how to buy tags, and how to upgrade, cancel, or restore a frozen subscription.
How a Kitetags account is created
Your account is created the first time you tap an unclaimed Kitetag with your phone. There is no separate sign-up form. The platform prompts you to create a username and password during the claiming flow.
Once the account exists, sign in from any device at the Kitetags dashboard to manage tags, groups, and settings.
Pricing plans
All plans are billed monthly. Annual billing is not currently offered.
| Plan | Price | Active Kitetags | Custom data fields | Multiple users |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0/month | 1 | Up to 5 | — (single user) |
| Basic | $10/month | 11 | Up to 5 | Yes |
| Plus | $30/month | 111 | Unlimited | Yes |
| Professional | $100/month | 1,000 | Unlimited | Yes |
The Free plan is a single user with no organization. Basic, Plus, and Professional support multiple users with role-based permissions. All paid plans support custom designs and branding on your Kitetags via the Interaction Builder’s Design tab.

Active vs. grounded tags
The “Active Kitetags” limit counts tags that are claimed and responsive to taps. Grounded tags remain on your account but do not count toward the limit and do not respond to taps until you return them to a group.
If you approach your plan limit, ground tags you are not actively using rather than upgrading.

Profile information is used for account communications. It does not affect tag data or group configuration.
How to change your password

- Click Save.
How to purchase Kitetag bundles
Physical Kitetags are purchased from the Tagstand shop at tagstand.com/kitetags. Bundle sizes vary by product.
Currently available:

See Kitetag form factors for a full list.
How to upgrade or change your plan
- Open Billing from the sidebar (available to Account Managers and Limited Account Managers).
- Click Upgrade / Change Plan.
- Choose a plan and complete checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe.
Upgrades may take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades apply at the start of the next billing cycle.
How to cancel your subscription
- Open Billing from the sidebar.
- Click Cancel Subscription.
- Confirm the cancellation.
Before canceling, ground any tags you do not need. Grounded tags do not count toward the active limit.
Frozen tags and failed payments
If a payment fails or the subscription lapses, the platform freezes tags that exceed the Free plan limit. Frozen tags stop responding to taps. They are not deleted.
To restore frozen tags:
- Open Billing from the sidebar and update the payment method under Payment Methods (Add Card).
- Resolve outstanding charges.
- Tags automatically return to their previous status.
See managing tags for the full status reference.
